Is this truly the fastest plane ever? It is the fastest unmanned plane for sure, DARPA this morning launched this bad boy up into the air attached to a rocket. The plane was clocked at a cool brisk 13,000 mph, if you need to understand that in real world terms; it can fly from Los Angeles to New York in less then 12 minutes. During the test today it was expected to just glide through the upper atmosphere reaching speeds of Mach 20 and landing about 4,000 miles from Vandenberg.
