Why Anime Sometimes Sucks!!!

I made a post last month about the differences between Anime and Manga. At that time I felt a need to let people know that there are noticeable differences within the two art forms. Now I want to let you all know that when a Manga becomes translated to the Anime domain, well they have a tendency of screwing things up. So lets go through some of these Manga to Anime screw-ups from my first hand experience.

FULLMETAL ALCHEMIST

Fullmetal Alchemist is the story of two brothers, Edward and Alphonse Elric that are far from ordinary due to the fact that they are extremely gifted in alchemy. Their skills in alchemy also leads to the major plot point of the story, after their mother's passing they decide to bring her back with the use of alchemy. Their attempt at resurrection causes a terrible tragedy, at the wake of the process Edward loses his arm and his leg while Alphonse loses his entire body. They both have to make due with artificial replacements of what they lost, and they venture to find a way to get it back by use of the same thing that took it from them, ALCHEMY. The timeline is set around the 1940s in an alternate world where rather then science and technology being the practice of growth, alchemy has grown to be the main usage. As far as story line it the Anime was amazing, up until the point where the story got weird with the inclusion of a deviated plot.

Anime: The main protagonist ended up being "The Mother", a woman from a very distance past that uses alchemy in a way to keep herself youthful and alive. Her henchmen are the Homunculus, beings created from failed attempts by Alchemist to bring back their loved ones. The story starts becoming weird as characters from the manga aren't introduced and characters are just created from thin air. Not to mention the ending of the anime had a very sad ending that the film that followed didn't do a great job of fixing.

Manga: The manga was the original content that the Anime pulled from and it was simply perfect. The villains introduced were sometimes just misunderstood and their wasn't some weird illegitimate 3rd Elric brother (Watch the anime to get what I am talking about). The main protagonist was "The Father" (aren't they smooth with the sex change) and his henchmen were also the Homunculus. In the original variation the Homunculus were created by The Father and not some failed experiment by random Alchemist.  The characters that the anime left out were just amazing, and it leaves you wondering what idiot said we could do without them? I am not going to ruin major plot points for you but this is definitely a story better read, or so one would think.

Anime (Part Deux): I guess Funimation and Aniplex realized how upset fans were with the changes that were made, that they decided to give the Anime version another shot. This time the Anime follows the Manga in exact detail with no shifts and added bells and whistles. Watch or read it is up to you, but the name of the Re-Do is FULLMETAL ALCHEMIST BROTHERHOOD. I like to call it the best thing ever made for short...eh not really short is it, whatever.

I will make another post about 2 other anime later in the day.....no hints, just stay posted!
